I have always enjoyed reading your post and they have helped me gain an insight into the mob!
However I am curious why JWs focus so much on the failings of the RCC?
I have read watchtower magazines pouring scorn on them, listened to my wife and MIL and others from the dub organization pour scorn on them and various people on here.
How the RCC have handled the issue is bad, no arguement, but is any other church or religion any better? I am CofE (Anglican) and to my knowlege are really no better than the RCC when it comes to dealing with these problems and others have pointed out such as Donny it covers the whole spectrum religion.
But why do JW target the RCC so much?

Mama will not be transfused
by voodoo lady ini've been a long-time reader of this site and have found it everything from informative to entertaining... but i'm now posting because i'm craving the ears (or eyes, i guess) of people who understand.. .
my mother was just last week diagnosed with an "ovarian type" cancer.
the oncologist discussed with her how far the cancer has already spread, and said she would operate immediately to remove as much of it as possible, but would not proceed if my mother resisted a transfusion as the risk of blood-loss will be too great.

Firstly welcome froma fellow newbie
I am sorry to hear your mum has cancer.
Is your mother of the zero blood group full stop or fractions are okay? My MIL is of the belief that saline only will save her. Even someone with basic biology knows thats a blatently not true but as the WT said it must be!
If she is of the zero blood group you have an uphill battle on your hands, however if she is of the fractions group, then you need to talk to t the doctor and get him to explain the blood transfusion in a different way. I seem to remember reading on here a powerpoint presentation for doctors of how to deal with and talk to JW about blood and its use in a way that they accepted. In addition what is and isn't told to the patient with regards to the use of blood should be considered.
If I remember correctly and I am sure someone else has a link to it, there was also within the presentation a commentry that the JW hospital bridage must be kept away.
Remember that Jesus stated that life is more important than rules, the example he gave was the rescue of the sheep on the sabbath day. For a JW this is a difficult concept for them to deal with in light of the indoctrination, if it come to it you can justify bood transfusion by the bible.

Is regularly texting/phoning someone (not your partner) cheating?

if your partner (husband/wife, gf/bf etc) was phoning and texting someone approx 20 times per day,would you find it unacceptable?
for example, if your wife was texting/phoning another brother (also married) 20 to 30 times a day, would you get suspicious?

when something bad happens in your life

I was going to answer this earlier but I had a phone call with a client!
Believing that god has stopped blessing us and thats why bad things happen is something that is used by some people as a coping response, but its a negative one.
From the person dishing out this they are religionizing the issue. Its a form of intimidation and abuse
If something bad happens ask youself the following questions:
Why did it happen?
What did I do or not do?
What can I do differently next time to make sure it doesn't happen again?
If you were at fault, stand up and take responsibility. Learn from your mistakes
Above all remember to be honest, respect yourself and others.
Sometimes there will be things that happen that you have no control of. Accept it, but it doesn't mean you aren't in control of your own path.

Watchtower super sales pitch.
by edmond dantes ini recently looked at a copy of the watchtower and read a little of it but it seemed to me that it droned on and on in the same old way decade after decade.
however to somebody who is new to their little game i can see that their message would sound plausible because of their clever technique of selling the watchtower brand of religion.
in my eyes the books and mags.

The sales pitch is super clever and they target a certain types of people. Much in the same way the Billy mays adverts target certain audience groups.
To amuse my wife and MIL, I studied with the MIL for about 4 weeks, a couple of sessions a week. However I soon noticed that the study was not so much of the bible but based on a book called "what does the bible teach us" and I can see why it looks so good to many people and people fall for it.
To "many" the bible is a big thick book with lots of words and difficult to comprehend. The WTS even promotes this view but with Watchtower magazine and other publications they help you with the answers and make you feel like you "know" the bible and in the process make you think that the only way you can really read it is with their help! Add in to this afterwards the WT then preying on the most basic fears of people. Death and rejection and bingo, they have the perfect hold.
The problem with me is I tend to suspicious, don't take things on face value and my science research training kicked in and I wanted to see the source and read the supporting documentation! Needless there wasn't any for things such as the 1914 dates and alike. In addition, I read the full text of the chapters and saw amany things taken out of context. Which lead to me asking difficult questions and the MIL stop studying with me and accusing me of not being open and accusations from her of me not knowing the bible!

The women of the dubs have been appearing on a fairly regular basis recently and last night brough food for the MIL. Meat balls with spagetti, tomato packet sauce and cheeeeeeeeeeese! Lets just say that it didn't look too good.
2 weeks ago they brought lasanga, again not that good looking!
Now don't get me wrong this seems like very nice behaviour, but wheres it going? Before recently they never appeared but recently its like a constant flow. I fhtey were doing this for all the more elderly members of the cong, I might not be so suspicious but I don't believe that to be the case!
It also can't be a case of them thinking we are starving her, as I know the MIL raves about my cooking and I have to eat!!
So what are this lot up to?

SD-7, it is sad that you have to go through this. As you mentioned in your post the main weapon the elders have is fear and intimidation.
The elders don't want you to think or ask questions, the polar opposite of what many of the teachings Jesus promotes. The funny bit about this is that they apply the same techniques as they slam governments and other religious groups for applying!
Having never been a JW I cannot imagine the anguish you are going through but I know how it feels to be threatened with the loss of family and loved ones because your view differs to that of another, and my thoughts are with you.
You must do what is right for you, those you love and importantly your conscience. Sometimes the right choices take us down the hardest path.

A number of years ago I had the chance to move to Dubai and work. The money was fantastic and more than I could possibly want but bits of the lifestyle was not for me. While I was there I noticed that most of the wives on the compounds were very bored and turned to drink or bed hopping or both! Don't get me wrong not that at the time it mattered (as I was single) but it was like an accident waiting to happen.
